Inhaltsangabe: Die amerikanische Journalistin Mary Prescott kehrt von einer Reise aus einem kommunistischen Land hinter dem Eisernen Vorhang zurück. Sie reist mit einem Schutzbrief vom Präsidenten dieser Nation. Im selben Zug befindet sich Jan Gubak, Kapitän des Fußballteam des Landes und ein Nationalheld. Gubak besucht die Journalistin in ihrem Abteil, lädt sie zum Abendessen ein und überzeugt sie, für ihn eine wertvolle Uhr über die Grenze zu schmuggeln. Er sagt ihr, dass er beabsichtigt, sie zu verkaufen. Seine kranke Schwester in Westdeutschland braucht Geld für einen Operation. Sie ist schockiert als Gubak sie als Schmugglerin anzeigt. Während dem Verhör versucht sie herauszufinden ob es jemand gibt, dem sie vertrauen kann.

Alfred Hitchcock: (Playing pool wearing an eye patch.) Good evening. You know, this came as somewhat of a surprise to me. I was under the impression that all pool tables were kidney-shaped. I guess that's only true in Hollywood. Our story tonight will be in a somewhat different vein. It is a tale of mystery and intrigue on a transcontinental express. It is called... (He thinks about it.) The title seems to have slipped my mind. It's ah...(Someone comes on with a pool cue.)
Man with pool cue: You've dropped your cue.(He leaves.)
Alfred Hitchcock: (Opens the end of the pool cue, pulls out a piece of paper and reads it) The title of tonight's play is "Safe Conduct." Thank you very much.
Alfred Hitchcock: Now, I'm sorry you didn't watch. You'll never believe me. A three cushion shot. It caromed off the ceiling, floor and wall and into the side pocket.(Takes an 8 ball from his pocket.) Next week at this time we shall all return our mummers to offer you their usual 26 minutes of drama. And, of course, I shall be back to lay my customary one-minute egg. Good night.
